Thom Magister is an American Master/slave educator, community leader, author, and one of the principal architects of structured Master/slave education within the contemporary Leather community. His work has been devoted to promoting responsible, consensual authority exchange through education, mentorship, and community development. He is best known as the founder of MTTA (Master/slave Training Academy), an educational organisation created to provide structured learning opportunities for individuals interested in consensual Master/slave relationships. Through MTTA, Magister helped establish curricula, conferences, workshops, and educational resources that significantly influenced the development of Master/slave education throughout North America. Unlike authors whose primary focus lies in philosophical theory or historical documentation, Magister has consistently emphasised practical education, ethical leadership, service, communication, and personal accountability. His approach views Master/slave relationships as disciplines requiring continual study, reflection, and responsible practice rather than fixed systems of rules. His contributions extend beyond teaching. Through his involvement in educational organisations and collaborative historical projects such as Our Lives, Our History, Magister has helped preserve institutional knowledge while encouraging the continued evolution of consensual authority exchange as a mature and responsible lifestyle. Within The Library of The Cellars, Thom Magister is preserved as one of the principal educational pioneers of the contemporary Master/slave community, whose work helped establish organised teaching and community education as central elements of the Lifestyle.
