樸: Worship

By wystan · A Manuscript preserved in The Cellars · 299 words · 8/31/2026

"Worship" began as a poem which was later reworked into a lyrical format. It is the first in a series of works called "The Uncarved Block" or "樸" after the concept of Pu in Taoism. These works center around a creative submissive character that goes by the name of Wystan (yes, the same Pseud i use here). The poem began its life many years ago when i first started to try and understand where my spirituality, philosophy, and admittedly romantic heart intersected with my submissive identity. It is a devotional perspective of sacred power and exchange. Upon the death of my late QPLP in 2023, i pulled out this poem and began to rework it into a song. Some of my feelings surrounding his death were poured into this song as it was reforged, but the song itself is not actually about him at all.
