The Lexicon

The Lexicon preserves the language of the Lifestyle — its words, concepts and traditions. It records meaning; it never prescribes practice. Where usage varies between Houses or lineages, each is set down with equal respect.

Practices

Caning

Impact play using a rigid rod, producing sharp, focused sensation and characteristic linear marks.

Definition

Caning is the practice of striking the body with a slender rigid rod, historically of rattan or similar material. The sensation is distinct from softer impact implements: focused, cumulative and often marking. Caning has a long presence in disciplinary iconography as well as in consensual play.

Discussion

Because of its intensity and marking potential, caning is generally approached with clear negotiation, careful targeting to the buttocks or thighs, and attentive aftercare. This practice generally requires advanced education, informed consent, appropriate risk awareness and should not be approached without adequate knowledge and preparation.
