The Lexicon

The Lexicon preserves the language of the Lifestyle — its words, concepts and traditions. It records meaning; it never prescribes practice. Where usage varies between Houses or lineages, each is set down with equal respect.

Terminology

Kink

A general term for consensual sexual or intimate practices outside the conventional mainstream.

Definition

Kink is broader than BDSM: it includes fetish, role play, sensation, and many practices that do not centre on power exchange. It is often used as an inclusive umbrella under which BDSM, Leather, and other traditions coexist.
