The Lexicon

The Lexicon preserves the language of the Lifestyle — its words, concepts and traditions. It records meaning; it never prescribes practice. Where usage varies between Houses or lineages, each is set down with equal respect.

Practices

Punishment

A specific consequence applied in response to an agreed transgression within a dynamic.

Definition

Within a negotiated dynamic, punishment is distinct from play: it is intended to be unwelcome, corrective, or educational rather than pleasurable. The forms it takes, and the offences it addresses, are agreed between the participants. Punishment that is not consented to is not punishment; it is harm.
