Companionship is, in the Gorean setting, the formal contractual bond joining two free persons. It confers mutual obligations and public recognition and is typically renewed annually. The contract is distinct from other Gorean relational forms such as ownership of a kajira or kajirus.

In modern Gorean practice, Companionship ceremonies are often adapted to reflect the couple's own commitments and the customs of their household or community.
