The Lexicon

The Lexicon preserves the language of the Lifestyle — its words, concepts and traditions. It records meaning; it never prescribes practice. Where usage varies between Houses or lineages, each is set down with equal respect.

Practices

Floor Tie

A tie performed with the Rope Bottom on the ground rather than suspended.

Definition

A Floor Tie is a rope scene conducted with the Rope Bottom's weight fully supported by the ground. Floor work is a complete discipline in its own right and is often described as the foundation of suspension practice.

Discussion

Some teachers explicitly resist the framing of floor work as merely preparatory, and treat it as an equal or greater expressive form.
