New Guard describes the evolution of Leather culture as it broadened beyond its original demographic and adjusted its customs to new contexts. It is not a rejection of the earlier traditions but a continuation of them under different conditions, with more visible participation by women, queer people of many identities, and heterosexual practitioners.
