Human Animal is an inclusive term for a person who, within a consensual frame, takes on the persona, behaviour or headspace of a non-human animal. It is used across Petplay, Puppy Play, Ponyplay and species-specific traditions when a neutral umbrella term is preferred over species-specific vocabulary such as Pup, Kitten or Pony.

The phrase Human Animal became common in wider Animal Roleplay conversations as communities sought language that recognised the many species and expressions covered by these practices.

Some participants prefer species-specific words that speak to their particular persona. Human Animal is offered as a shared vocabulary rather than a replacement for those identifiers.
