The Lexicon

The Lexicon preserves the language of the Lifestyle — its words, concepts and traditions. It records meaning; it never prescribes practice. Where usage varies between Houses or lineages, each is set down with equal respect.

Practices

Pony Play

The family of animal-role practices centred on human-pony personas, drawing on equestrian traditions.

Definition

Pony Play is a distinct branch of Animal Roleplay in which a participant, the human Pony, adopts an equine persona. Practices commonly include gear inspired by real tack — bridles, bits, harnesses, tail sets — and activities such as ground work, driving, cart pulling, dressage and show routines. Pony Play spans erotic, athletic and ceremonial registers, and often takes place at dedicated events.

Historical background

Pony Play developed as a distinct tradition within BDSM through the twentieth century, with dedicated organisations, conferences and touring events consolidating its vocabulary and craft.

Discussion

Communities differ on emphasis: some prioritise athletic competence and dressage, others ceremony and gear, others erotic and D/s dimensions. Multiple orientations are widely accepted.
