Groom

A participant who attends to the care, gear and grooming of a Human Pony.

Definition

A Groom in Pony Play attends to a Pony's care — checking gear, ensuring water and rest, adjusting tack, grooming and providing support before, during and after activity. The role is central to safety and welfare, and is highly valued within Stables that emphasise structured work.

Historical background

The Groom role adapts equestrian stable tradition to Human Pony work.

Discussion

Grooms may be Handlers, Trainers or dedicated Caretakers depending on the Stable. Their role is respected as skilled and essential in most communities.
