The Lexicon

The Lexicon preserves the language of the Lifestyle — its words, concepts and traditions. It records meaning; it never prescribes practice. Where usage varies between Houses or lineages, each is set down with equal respect.

Terminology

Instinct

The immediate embodied responses drawn upon in Primal and instinctive modes of play.

Definition

In Lifestyle contexts, Instinct refers to the immediate embodied responses — reflexes, impulses, felt readings of another person's state — that are drawn upon in Primal and instinctive modes of play. The term is used descriptively rather than as a claim about biology, and honours the fact that trained attention and prior negotiation still shape how those responses are expressed.
