The Lexicon

The Lexicon preserves the language of the Lifestyle — its words, concepts and traditions. It records meaning; it never prescribes practice. Where usage varies between Houses or lineages, each is set down with equal respect.

Ceremonies

Entries are listed alphabetically. Categories classify — they never determine order.

Assignment
The act by which a person is formally placed as a kajira or kajirus within a specific household or under a specific authority.
Ceremony
A formal, witnessed event that marks a change of status or the making of a commitment.
Collaring
The ceremony in which a collar is placed on a person to mark a formalised dynamic.
Collaring (Gorean context)
The act by which a person is formally taken into a Gorean household as a kajira or kajirus, marked by the placing of a collar.
Domestic Inspection
Formal review of household order, service or presentation carried out by the leader.
Formal Presentation
The formal act of presenting a person, object or state to another within ceremony.
Freeing
A synonym in Gorean community practice for the formal act of Release.
Household Ritual
Recurring ceremonial practice observed within the shared life of a household.
Inspection Ceremony
A formal ritual of inspection performed within a dynamic or House.
Pack Initiation
A ceremony marking a Pup's formal welcome into a Pack.
Pack Recognition
Formal acknowledgment by a pack that a person is recognised as belonging to it.
Pack Ritual
Recurring ceremonial practice observed by members of a pack.
Preparation Ritual
A ritual undertaken in preparation for a scene, ceremony or significant occasion.
Presentation Ceremony
A ceremony in which a person is formally presented, often within a House or community.
Recognition Ceremony
Ceremony in which a person, bond or role is formally acknowledged before witnesses.
Registration
A general ceremonial acknowledgment of an animal-role participant's admission or standing.
Ritual
A repeated symbolic act that expresses or reinforces the shape of a dynamic.
Stable Registration
A ceremonial acknowledgment of a Human Pony's admission to a Stable.
Territory Ritual
Ceremony marking the recognition, dedication or care of a shared space.
