A Pack Initiation is a ceremony by which a Pup is formally welcomed into a Pack. Such ceremonies vary widely: some involve the giving of a Pack collar or patch, some the taking of a Pack name, some formal statements of commitment between Pup and Pack. Initiation may be a private ritual or a public event.

Pack Initiation ceremonies emerged as Packs developed structural weight and needed markers of formal membership.

There is no universal Pack Initiation. Communities and Packs shape their own ceremonies in line with their values.
