The Lexicon preserves the language of the Lifestyle — its words, concepts and traditions. It records meaning; it never prescribes practice. Where usage varies between Houses or lineages, each is set down with equal respect.

Bared Throat

Body Language
The complex of postural, gestural and expressive signals through which people communicate without speech.
Communication

Dominance Signals
Embodied cues that express dominance, presence or the assumption of a leading role within primal contexts.
Growling
Vocalisation used in primal play to convey warning, dominance or engagement.
Instinctive Communication
Communication conducted primarily through embodied cues rather than explicit language.
Limits
The activities a participant will not or may not engage in, disclosed during negotiation.
Negotiation
The conversation in which participants agree on the shape, limits and safety of a scene or relationship.
Nuzzling
Gentle contact of face, muzzle or head area used in primal and animal-role play to signal affection or belonging.
Safeword
A pre-agreed word or signal that a participant uses to pause or end a scene.
Submission Signals
Embodied cues that communicate yielding, deference or acknowledgment of another's authority within primal contexts.
Traffic-Light System
A widely used safeword convention using the colours green, yellow and red.
