A Working Pony is a Human Pony whose role emphasises labour and service — pulling, carrying, ground work and other physical tasks — as an expression of the Pony's identity. Working Pony practice draws on service and Working Animal traditions in equal measure.

The Working Pony specialisation reflects the strong service register present in much of Pony Play.

Working Pony work varies widely in intensity and formality. It is generally supported by careful attention to conditioning, rest and gear.
