Safeword
A pre-agreed word or signal that a participant uses to pause or end a scene.
Definition
A safeword is a communication tool established during negotiation. It allows any participant to stop or slow an activity clearly, without needing to break character or explain in the moment. Safewords are respected immediately and without argument.
Many communities use a traffic-light system in which green means continue, yellow means slow down or check in, and red means stop. When speech is not possible, non-verbal signals such as dropping a held object serve the same function.
