A Kitten is a person who takes on a cat or kitten persona in a consensual context, expressed through posture, gesture, gear such as ears, tails and collars, and often a distinctive register of interaction — curling, purring, playful batting, watchful stillness. Kitten identity ranges from occasional to sustained.

The Kitten identity emerged as Kitten Play developed alongside Puppy Play as a distinct tradition within Petplay.

Kitten expression varies widely. Some Kittens are highly playful; others are aloof, sensual or ceremonial. No single template applies.
