The Guide
Chambers
Chambers are the private rooms of The Cellars: small, deliberate spaces for conversation between members.
What a Chamber is for
A Chamber holds an ongoing conversation. It might be a two-person dialogue, a small ring of intimates, or a working group within a House. Chambers are not public — nothing said inside is indexed or shown on profiles.
How conversations are intended to work
- Entry is by invitation or, where the host allows, by request.
- Messages may be formatted as anywhere else in The Cellars — headers, bold, italics, inline code.
- The host of a Chamber sets its character: who joins, how it is moderated, when it closes.
- Leaving a Chamber is always a complete sentence. Staying is always a choice.
Conduct inside a Chamber
The Community Rules apply with no softening. Private does not mean lawless. Consent first, privacy by default, adults only — wherever the conversation happens.
If a Chamber turns harmful, leave and report it. Staff can review reported Chambers with the privacy of all parties in mind; they do not browse Chambers otherwise.
Joining and leaving
You can request to join a Chamber from its page, or be admitted by its host. Hosts may mute or remove members who breach the room's character; a removed member can be banned from re-entering. You may leave a Chamber at any time, and your past messages remain visible to those who saw them.
Access levels
Some Chambers are open by request, others by invitation only, and some are tied to a House and limited to its members. The access level is shown on the Chamber's page.
The named Chambers
A few rooms recur in the life of the cellar and deserve introduction.
- The Parlour — the community's shared social room, open to all members. A relaxed space for books, films, travel, music, hobbies and the ordinary moments that make a community feel alive.
- The Iron Chamber — the Chamber for protocol, mentorship, tradition and long-term D/s practice. Reserved for members entrusted with Cellar Verified status alongside the Staff who steward the institution.
- The Reserve — a quieter sitting room for trusted social conversation among members entrusted with Cellar Verified status. Unlike The Iron Chamber, it is not centred on protocol.
Cellar Verified is institutional trust granted by the Châtelaine or the Ivy Regent. It is never purchased. Restricted Chambers exist to protect trust, continuity and the quality of discussion — not to mark members as superior.
