Honorific Titles

An Honorific Title is the name a member carries within The Cellars. It is part of your standing here, not a relationship with another person.

Titles, identity and relationships

Honorific Titles belong to My Cellar — they sit beside your profile, your verifications and your notifications, because they describe who you are within the community. They are distinct from Bonds and Collars, which describe ties to other members, and from the lifestyle role you state on your profile (Dominant, submissive, Switch, and so on).

Requesting a title

Open Honorific Titles to see the titles available and to submit a request. State which title you seek, why it fits, and any sponsoring members or House. A Keeper — usually a Steward — considers each request in the round.

Uniqueness and standing

Some titles are unique and can be held by only one member at a time; others may be shared. If a title is already held, you may be asked to choose a different wording or to wait. A held title appears on your profile beside your name and is shown wherever you are listed.

What an Honorific Title is not

Setting a title aside

A title may be retired by the member who holds it, or withdrawn by the Keepers in rare cases of clear breach. A retired title is removed from your profile and may become available to others. Honorific Titles are meant to be lived up to, not accumulated.
