The Lexicon preserves the language of the Lifestyle — its words, concepts and traditions. It records meaning; it never prescribes practice. Where usage varies between Houses or lineages, each is set down with equal respect.

Chase Instinct

Competition
Play or dynamic element featuring contest between participants within a negotiated frame.
Conditioning
The gradual shaping of response through consistent pairing of stimulus and consequence.
Confidence
Quiet, grounded assurance in one's role, judgement and standards.
Connection
The relational current between Rope Top and Rope Bottom that many practitioners consider central to Japanese-influenced rope.
Cooperation
Pattern of coordinated action among members of a pack or dynamic.
Degradation
Play that uses language or acts intended to diminish status within a consented frame.
Devotion
Sustained orientation of care, loyalty and attention toward another within an authority-based relationship.
Dom Drop
A period of low mood or depletion experienced by a Dominant after a scene.
Domspace
The altered psychological state a Dominant may enter during a scene.
Drop
A generic term for post-scene emotional or physiological low.
Embodied Response
Any response arising through the body — breath, posture, touch, sound — rather than through spoken language.
Embodiment
The experience of being wholly present in the body during rope practice.
Fear Play
Play that intentionally evokes fear as a central sensation.
Flow State
State of absorbed, present-focused engagement associated with primal, physical and skill-based play.
Heightened Awareness
Elevated attentional state characteristic of hunt and chase play.
Humiliation
Play that draws on the sensation of embarrassment or shame within a consented frame.
Hypnosis
The induction and use of a focused, suggestible state within play or authority dynamics.
Intent
The purpose and emotional orientation a Rope Top brings into a scene.
Intention
The clear purpose held by both partners as a rope scene unfolds.
Interrogation Play
Psychological scene structured around the extraction of information or admission.
Kitten Headspace
The animal-role headspace specific to Kittens within Kitten Play.
Mindfuck
Play whose primary content is the manipulation of perception, expectation or belief.
Mutual Growth
Framing of authority-based relationships as spaces for the development of both parties.
New Relationship Energy
The heightened emotional and erotic charge of a new relationship's early period.
NRE
Abbreviation for the heightened emotional and erotic charge that accompanies a new connection.
Objectification

Reconnection

Regression

Release

Resource Guarding
Behavioural pattern in which a person or pack asserts protective attention over a specific object, space or person.
Responsibility
The seriousness of accountability assumed by those exercising or accepting consensual authority.
Shared Attention
The mutual, focused attention of Rope Top and Rope Bottom during a scene.
Social Grooming

Stillness
The considered quality of quiet within a rope scene, valued in many Japanese-influenced traditions.
Sub Frenzy
A period of intense enthusiasm early in submissive experience that can outpace caution.
Subdrop

Subspace
